Press Release

Juniors and parents off to Scotland for US Kids European Championship…

30th March 2011

The group of players who will be travelling to Scotland to take part in the US Kids European Championships at the end of May consists of EGF Junior Squad members Hassan Said, Maged Abdel Hamad and Saphir Gohar along with Zizo Said and Salma Wahby who are both members of the EGF Rising Stars squad.

The players will be accompanied by three parents and Harry Carson who will oversee the group. The players will leave Cairo on 28th May and return on 4th June after playing two practice and three tournament rounds. All the players will have professional caddies with them who are familiar with the courses to be played.

Hassan and Saphir will play in the 14 year old age group at Luffness New G.C. over 6100 yards.

Zizo will play at Craigielaw G.C. in the 10 year old group over 4800 yards.

Maged making his third visit returns to Gullane # 2 G.C. in the 12 year old category over 5600 yards and Salma takes on the 11 year old girls at Gullane # 3 over 4600 yards.

All three golf courses are true Championship links courses on the East Coast of Scotland, with terrific bunkering and long rough so accuracy will be of a premium.

Not only will the players be looking for a top three place but also to finish as one of the two best non Europeans in their age group so that they can represent the Rest of the World in a Ryder Cup match play event on Friday 3rd June.

A high finishing position could also result in an invitation to compete in the US Kids World Championship, Finals to be played at Pinehurst, U.S.A in July
