It was with great excitement that I read our announcement of the 2010 Egyptian Open on the website of the European Tour. To see our Egyptian Open officially part of the European Challenge Tour schedule is quite something and the media coverage that comes with this will really showcase golf in this country to the World. The Open will finish on the Saturday, this will ensure stronger crowds and bring additional value to our sponsors. I know that Mirage City will once again prove an outstanding venue for such a Championship and I thank them for their support and partnership this year.
We are committed to growing our own Championships like the Egyptian Amateur Open. This event will also become the official Amateur Qualifying round for the 2010 Egyptian Open with the top five players in the event being granted invites. |
 |
Furthermore the event will carry official R&A Amateur World ranking points encouraging strong participation from the region and beyond. We are inviting the top 2 players from each regional Federation to ensure the top players attend. Katameya Heights will host the event which will be played over 54 hole from September 30th to October 2nd 2010.
I was delighted to see the response to the Global Brands Junior Pro-Am. 27 teams is a strong signal of the event’s popularity and I am sure that all the juniors enjoyed the experience. I believe that this event will become an important end of season goal for the juniors. My sincere thanks to Global Brands for their support and commitment to junior golf, our Federation and the EPGA
