Dear Golfer
Firstly I congratulate our ladies on a second place finish in the first ever North African Golf Ladies Team Championship. We were delighted for Egypt to compete and play its part in establishing the event, supported and sanctioned by the R&A. It creates another important playing opportunity for our Egyptian Lady players and I am sure the event will grow and be a permanent fixture in the regional golfing calendar.
Our TRY Golf campaign is also gaining momentum. We have now hosted three TRY GOLF weekends and despite some inclement weather at Golf City last weekend we are seeing impressive conversion rates.
128 people have taken advantage of this great opportunity. An impressive 79 of these have now begun a 6 week beginners program created by the Golf Development Officer and delivered by local Professionals. With Katameya, Mirage, Orange Lakes and Gezira still to host I am confident that this trend will continue and that clubs will really begin to see the rewards of the numbers of golfers regularly visiting their facility. I encourage all existing golfers and clubs to encourage participation at the remaining TRY GOLF dates and venues.

Try Golf for Free Continues at Golf City
|
|
|
|
|
|
Amarante Golf City was the latest club to host the EGF's 'Try Golf for
Free' promotion on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th February. In contrast to
the wintery weather experienced two weeks before at Dreamland,
unseasonably warm temperatures allowed for a much more pleasant experience
this time around. 35 potential golfers attended the classes and 21 are
expected to begin the beginner's program the following weekend.
Richard Phillips, of the EGF, said
afterwards "it has been a great weekend here at Golf City, we have now
introduced over 100 people to the sport in the last 5 weeks and I think
this figure will continue to grow as the word gets around that golf is a
great game".

Golf Participants At Dreamland Sign Up For Beginner's Program

The 5th and 6th of February saw the second opportunity for people to take
part in the E.G.F.'s " Try Golf for Free" promotion, this time at
Dreamland Golf Resort in 6th of October. 41 people keen to give golf
a try signed up for the classes but some wintery weather reduced the turn
out on the weekend to 25. Despite the weather, 21 of those who attend
enjoyed their experience so much that they signed up for a program of
beginner's lessons starting the following weekend.
The classes were conducted by a member of the Dreamland Professional staff
and Richard Phillips (Golf Development Officer for the E.G.F.) who said
afterwards "it was a shame that the weather conspired against us this
weekend but I am delighted that so many of those who came have chosen to
learn golf. 84% is an amazing figure and just goes to show how much people
like the game once they have the chance to try it".
