Eight of Cairo’s most promising young juniors were invited by the EGF to attend an intensive day of games and challenges at Katameya Heights on Saturday 12th June. EGF Golf Development Officer, Richard Phillips, conducted the day camp that saw the juniors complete all of the assessments of the Junior Development Program with the aim of assessing each junior’s strengths and weaknesses. The day began on the driving range with games created to test the junior’s iron play and driving ability followed by a series of short game assessments covering chipping, pitching and bunker shots. After a well earned lunch break the youngsters enjoyed a putting competition before playing 9 holes on the New Nine from the EGF Orange tees. After the round the day’s scores were calculated and Phillips presented the juniors with their awards. Following an excellent display throughout the day Zizo Said of Katameya received the highest award of the day achieving ‘level 9’ in the system of 10 award levels.
Phillips said afterwards “congratulations to all the juniors on receiving their awards, it has been a great day and I look forward to helping these promising young golfers improve their skills in the weeks and months to come.”
A series of day camps organized and conducted by the EGF will take place in June and July to continue the development of Egypt’s ‘Rising Stars’.
