Amr Abou El Ela wins Closed Championship of Egypt, Ayman Mahmoud Runner up, both players receive invitations to 2010 Egyptian Open.

Amr Abou El Ela successfully defended his Egyptian Closed title this weekend with fine rounds of 68 and 70 for a 2 round total of 138, 2 under par. Ayman Mahmoud took the runner up spot, 2 shots further back on 140 after rounds of 68 and 72. Both players received invitations to compete in the 2010 Egyptian Open to take place in Cairo from October 20th to 23rd 2010, an event now officially part of the European Challenge Tour. Costa Marmaras finished 3rd on 141 with rounds of 71 and 70, with Gerard Bent 1 shot further back on 142 and two consecutive 71s. In fifth place was Mamdouh EL Sheikh on 144.


Runner UP Net went to Khaled El Serafy with a total net score of 141 with Mourad Ghanem winning the net on 139
The junior Net Champion was Hassan Fayed on 140 with Issa Abou El Ela being crowned the Closed Junior Champion with round of 79 and 72 for a 151 total.


A record entry of 53 players competed in this year’s Closed Championship which took place at Alexandria Sporting Club. At the prize presentation Egyptian Golf Federation acknowledged not only the sponsors, Julius Baer, Mercedes, Coca Cola and Four Seasons but also awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Head of the Committee of Alexandria Sporting Club, Amr Abou El Ela, for their outstanding efforts if hosting the Championship.
