Issa Abou El Ela Wins The Inaugural Mirage Junior Open, Full Results Now Published

13th May 2010

Mirage City hosted its first ever junior open tournament on Friday 30th April. The tournament was a great success with more than 40 juniors from 7 different clubs taking part in various age categories set by the EGF.

Alexandria’s Issa Abou El Ela shot an excellent round of 74 to become the first Mirage Junior Open Champion and win the 18 and under gross category by 5 shots from fellow Alexandrian,  Hassan Fayed. Hassan’s round of 79 gave him a net score of 62 and so he claimed the 18 and under net prize leaving Ibrahim Wakid of Katameya to take 2nd gross. A net score of 63, by Golf City’s Shams Bahaa, was only good enough for 2nd place in the 18 and under net category.

The 15 and under gross category was won by Katameya’s Hassan Said with Maged Abdel Taweb from Dreamland 6 shots behind in second place. The 15 and under net category was a much closer affair however with Saphir Gohar of Katameya  shooting a net 71 to win by just 2 shots from Karl Marco of Alexandria.

The younger juniors, without official handicaps, played 9 holes on the New Nine course from the EGF junior tees. In the 11 and under category Abdel Aziz Said of Katameya won the prize for ‘best boy’ following an excellent 38 while Soraya Scarello, also of Katameya,  won ‘best girl’ after a count back with Kenzy Hafez following a score of 40 from both girls.

It proved to be a great day for the Scarello family with Soraya’s sister Nazly shooting a 37 to win the prize for ‘best girl’ in the 9 and under category after a count back with Hana Wael. The best score by the boys in the 9 and under category went to Alexandria’s Nour El Dakhakny who’s 38 ensured him of his prize.

Congratulations to all.
