With not only the title, but a place in the 2010 Egyptian Open at stake, the region’s leading Amateur players found the conditions extremely difficult on the superb Gary Player layout. Owens shot an impressive 5 over par, 77 to take a 1 shot lead over Bahrain’s Abdulla Sultan on 78. 2 shots back of Owens is young Swedish talent Anton Bergstrom. 49 players are competing with a cut to the leading 24 players and ties taking place after 36 holes.
