MercedesTrophy Qualifiers Begin 18th April 2010
The Egyptian Final of the 2010 MercedesTrophy will be held at Stella Di Mare on Saturday 8th May, with an official practice round on Friday 7th May. Finalists will enjoy overnight accommodation, meals, and entertainment courtesy of Mercedes. Mercedes has appointed Golf in Egypt as organizers of the competition.
This year’s event will be played in one shotgun at 11 a.m. on Saturday 8th 2010. A total of 76 golfers will compete in the final with qualifying spaces available through local club qualifying rounds, according to allocations set by the Egyptian Golf Federation.
The finals, played in Stableford format with full handicap, will pick three winners from three handicap categories to compete at the World MercedesTrophy Final in Stuttgart, Germany from 23-28 September 2010 forming the Mercedes Egypt team. Participating the Word Final is a "once in a lifetime" experience, meaning that there are three new winners each year. Previous winners are allowed to play in the Egyptian Final, but they will not be invited to the World Final if they win.
Because the Egyptian team in Stuttgart must be comprised of golfers carrying Egyptian passports, there will be special prizes for the top performers in Stella di Mare should one or more of them not be eligible to travel.
There will be many additional prizes for good performance on the day, such as golf weekends at some of Egypt's fine tourist courses, weekend test drives of fine Mercedes automobiles, and dinners at excellent restaurants, among others.
The weekend at Stella will be a fabulous opportunity for the lucky qualifiers. In addition to a weekend stay at the resort, there will be test drive opportunities, a cocktail reception on Friday evening, special golf competitions, entertainment, relaxation in the Stella di Mare Spa and Thalasso, and just a bit of lazy time at the beach.
It all adds up to a great event, so put on your golfing game face and qualify to meet – and beat – your fellow golfers at Stella di Mare.

The first qualifier at Katameya Heights picked 16 golfers in three different handicap categories. The photo shows three golfers admiring the E Class Coupe, which was on display at the club.
Last year's winners had the chance to visit the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, which offers a chance to hear about the company, its history and its automobiles. The photo shows the team posing in front of a Mercedes classic.
