Ibrahim Wakid wins Katameya Junior Open in dramatic playoff, Obatoyinbo takes best Net with impressive 63 on day 2. 20th February 2010
Katameya and National Squad member Ibrahim Wakid sent a timely
message to the Egyptian Golf Federation ahead of pending selection
for the African Junior Championships by clinching the Katameya Open
in dramatic style by beating fellow National squad members and
Alexandrian Issa Abou El Ela. Following an excellent first round and
personal competitive best of 75 Wakid gave himself a 6 shot lead
ahead of Abou Ela. Despite an unfortunate start to his second round
Wakid recovered to complete a second round 84 to force a playoff
with Abou El Ela who managed an excellent 78. Round of the day went
to Mina Farid with 76 to take the third.
Katameya junior, Timi Obatoyinbo took the best net prize with a 131
total beating National Junior squad member Saphir Gohar by 4
strokes. Hassan Said took third on 141.
