Dreamland Men’s Open: Adly wins gross, Gohar wins Net, strong weekend for National Junior players…

Following a impressive second round level par 72 over the Championship course at Dreamland It was Mike Adly who emerged as Champion with a 36 hole total of 147 (75,72), giving him a 2 shot winning margin. Sixty seven players competed over a weekend on a course that underwent some significant course changes by European Tour Professional, David Jones last summer. The new look 18th hole  presents a stiff challenge now and will be the scene of much drama in future Championships held at Dreamland.

 

Overnight leader, after a impressive opening round of 70 was Billy Rateb but a disappointing 79 on day two saw take one of the runner up spots, finishing 2 shots behind on 149. Also on 149 was the consistent Adbel Monem El Shafei after rounds of 75 and 74.

Fast improving National Junior squad member, Saphir Gohar, produced another weekend of excellent golf by shooting 71,68 for a 4 under par total of 139. Fellow squad member, Hassan Said, took the runner up spot with 2 excellent rounds of 70,71 for 141. Third net went to Amr Fathalah on 144. There were other performances of note from other National Squad members with Sherif Rizk and Issa Abou Ela finishing inside the top 10 on 146.

Another performances well worthy of mention was young Soraya Scarello, playing in her first monthly medal at Katameya Heights off the Championship tees, shot an impressive 113 and with her 33 handicap, managed a net 80. Zizo Said, managed at excellent 74 net in Division C and Soliman Naguib finished in third place in Division C with a fantastic 68 net. All three players are members of the EGF Rising Stars squad.
