Sophie Issa wins 2011 Egyptian Ladies Open at Mirage City Club… 18th January 2011
Katameya Heights Sophie Issa started the 2011 golfing year in fine style by taking the Egyptian ladies Amateur Open at JW Marriot, Mirage City Golf Club. Issa managed two consistent rounds of 83 and 84 for a 167 total in challenging wintery conditions. With players unable to win more than one major prize with gross prizes taking precedence, Runner Up went to Amina El Halawany on 189. Third place gross went to Beth Brown of Katameya Heights. Sophie enjoys her name being engraved on the Nefertiti Trophy. Egyptian Golf Federation’s Gerard Bent announced the results and thanked the efforts of the host club Mirage City and EGF sponsors’ Julius Baer Advisory SAE. With Sophie taking the overall title it was Suzie Blazer that actually took the overall Net title with a 36 hole total of 153 Net. Runner Up net went to Linda Formas 165 Net. Third place Net went to Heba De Maurissiens with 175 Net.
Conchita Muguiro took the stableford category with an impressive 68 points. Runner up was Mar Desala with 62 and third place went to Rosalie Sheard on 57 winning on count back.
